What do I love about: Alchemist?
I am not a fan of fiction books. But Paulo’s allegorical fictional novel- The Alchemist is a classic of all time. A young shepherd boy set out to find his treasury in the pyramid of Egypt. His journey is filled with lessons of life. The book gives insight into issues such as death, love, fear, trust, friendship and destiny. My takeaway from this read is that when a man pursue’s his destiny, every event – good or bad is a part of the journey. The universe will make lines fall in places as long as you continue to walk on that path of destiny. In young Santiago’s case, he discovered that the journey to the pyramid of Egypt was a way he could learn the language of the world. On arrival at the Egyptian pyramid, the universe redirects him somewhere else, where he discovers his treasures.
This beautiful parable not only has the power to uncover long buried dreams, it also inspires us to reach for them and live the life we have imagined.
